Somers Entertainment is delighted to advise of a new innovation to be launched in 2005 in the delivery of Vocational Studies A and Community Studies.  Due to the overwhelming success of our DJ training workshops, Somers Entertainment will now be offering a program tailored to meet the needs of Secondary schools in South Australia.

Somers Entertainment DJ Training course has SSABSA approval as a recognised VET course, which can be used to meet the VET component of Stage 2, Vocational Studies A and Community Studies courses of study.

During a meeting with SSABSA, this course gained recognition as a part of SACE delivery.  Confirmation was received that a portion of this training will be counted towards work placement.  However, a further fiftyhours of work placement will be required for students to obtain competency.  Currently, work is in hand to develop a range of assignments suited to meet the requirements of Vocational Studies A and Community Studies, which will be finalised shortly.

Whilst facilitating our DJ workshops during this year, we have found our participants grow in confidence as they develop valuable skills in the field of entertainment.  It was this fantastic growth in confidence of these individual students, over the four week training period, that Somers Entertainment felt that there was a far greater need in the market place to encourage the young talent we observed. The workshops have received positive feedback and we have been inspired by the success of the trainees. In fact, Somers Entertainment has employed staff from these workshops. Alternatively, other trainees are developing their own mobile DJ businesses.

Please find below further information for your perusal, and we would appreciate if you would pass this course information on to teachers delivering Vocational Studies A, Student and Career Councilors.  We look forward to the opportunity to work together to encourage and foster a sense of excitement during this important year of study. A range of assignments has been developed for the course, and can be viewed by following the links below.

Further enquiries should be directed to Julianne Brown, Training facilitator or Prue Muirhead, Director, Somers Entertainment. Click on the links below to view the course assignments.
