Somers Entertainment's History Somers Entertainment was established back in 1993 with one Disc Jockey and a mobile telephone. Eleven years later Somers Entertainment has grown from operating at a private residence to a prominent position in the CBD, West Terrace, Adelaide. The annual growth of the company has been enormous since its inception. Somers Entertainment now employs more than 30 Disc jockeys and is recommended by more than 50 of Adelaide's finest and largest venues (including the Hyatt Regency and Radisson Playford). The growth of the company lead to diversification, with the introduction of not only Adelaide's finest DJ's but also Digital Jukeboxes, Karaoke machines, Bands, Artists and party supplies. Somers Entertainment, most recent project development has been DJ training workshops. These workshops were created in order to source, train and employ a larger team of dynamic DJs to join the staff of Somers Entertainments DJs. The DJ training workshops were so successful that South Australian High Schools began calling to have their own students attend the weeknight course. It was this fantastic growth in confidence of these individual students, over the four week training period, that Somers Entertainment felt that there was a far greater need in the market place to foster the young talent we observed. During September 2004, Somers Entertainment's Training facilitator & Director attended a Quality Lincs, Vet co-coordinators meeting to outline the course. As a result, those present saw immediate possibilities to use this course to maintain student interest in schooling, whilst gaining useful experience and skills. Consequently, a meeting was setup with SSABSA to present the benefits of the course. SSABSA representative, Paul Willis agreed that the Somers Entertainment DJ Training workshops are sufficiently detailed and organised to be part of Voc Studies A and Community Studies during 2005. Somers Entertainment can now offer all South Australian High School students a fun, professional course to assist in meeting the VET component of Stage 2, Vocational Studies A or alternatively Community Studies, during their final years of secondary education. |
